U19'S CONFIRM LEADERSHIP GROUP

Huddersfield Giants Women have confirmed their leadership group for their U19's team.

Martha Hodgson has been selected as U19's Captain, with support from u19’s captain Caitlin Cox, Tegan Sant and Mylee Hartley, after an extremely successful 2025 season, which saw them win the most games out of any side, with no league system, focus is primarily on development.

Nath Larvin, Head Coach commented on his decision to award these players with captain and leadership group inclusion.

Martha 👇

"I’ve coached Martha 3 years now, 2 years on the talent hubs and last year with our 19s and she’s always been a really talented player.

"However, this pre season me and the coaching staff have seen a more determined version of Martha.

"She has really committed to all of the off field gym/conditioning work and been able to balance this alongside her studies and the results have shown, she is in great shape for the start of the season.

"Together with this she has always had a brilliant attitude at training, but took it upon herself to really welcome the new girls at the start of preseason and got round everyone every time we did the tough stuff in training.

"This showed really good leadership skills and we have monitored through the last few months.

"She has grown in stature within the group and has the utmost respect of all of the players and I can’t wait to see what Martha produces again this season."

Caitlin 👇

"Coxy is a different type of leader as she does the majority of her talking on the field and leads by example.

"She has an amazing attitude to training and has really taken on board some feedback through pre season in how she can develop even further.

"It’s no coincidence that the 2 games we lost last season, she didn’t play in - we really missed her go forward and energy.
She also has a voice in our sessions and isn’t afraid to grab hold of the girls if anyone is starting to lose focus and is another player who has amazing respect from all of her teammates."

Tegan👇

"Tegan has grown up a lot over the last 12 months, even more so in the last 6.

"Her talent is obviously unquestionable and there aren’t many out there in Super League with a rugby brain like hers.

"In terms of being a leader, she has been able to take on feedback from our review in pre season and really manage her emotions better, which has resulted in positive and constructive feedback to her teammates.

"The girls look up to Tegan and this pre season she has really led by example with how she handles herself and all the off field gym and conditioning work - even when she had the set back of breaking her fibia she has remained positive.

"This new role for her in our leadership group really is going to bring her game on further."

Mylee 👇

"I wouldn’t normally look to bring one of the first years into a leadership type role however, we have had to make an exception for Mylee.

"Since joining the group at the start of pre season she has put 100% into absolutely everything on the training field, but also had a voice within the group.

"She talks at the right time to her teammates and leads by example on the field.

"Her physicality and maturity has seen her get instant respect from all her teammates and I can wait to see what she does with this group of players this season."

Martha Hodgson discussed with us being appointed U19's Captain and the pride that comes with it.

"It’s an honour to have been selected as captain this year especially due to the huge amounts of talent within the squad.

"I’m hoping to build on what we achieved last season, having only only lost 2 games, and I think we can achieve this due to the quality players we’ve gained this season but also due to the hard work we’ve been putting in, throughout pre season. There’s lots to be excited about for this upcoming season and we’re ready to turn all our hard work into success.
