GIANTS APPOINT “MR AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE”

Huddersfield Giants are extremely delighted to welcome Cameron “Cammy” Augustine to the team as the new Rugby League Development Officer with specific responsibilities to be the new face of the club within the local amateur club partners

Cammy’s appointment marks an exciting step forward as the investment and drive forward under the new 'Unleashed era' gathers pace. The role is solely focussed on getting the Giants’ presence out in the community, whilst striving to forge valuable relationships between the Giants and Community clubs across the region.

 The role has one clear objective which is strengthening connections within the grassroots game across the community. 

 

Speaking on his appointment, Cammy shared his enthusiasm for joining the Claret and Gold:

"I am incredibly proud to join the Huddersfield Giants Community Trust as the new Rugby League Development Officer. In a town synonymous with the birth of our sport, I am committed to honouring that heritage by building a vibrant future. My focus is clear: to bridge the gap between grassroots clubs, local schools and the professional game. By strengthening these pathways, we will ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability has the opportunity to thrive within the Giants and Rugby League be they players, coaches, administrators or supporters.”

 

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis said

“We are delighted that the Huddersfield Giants Community Trust are able to welcome Cameron to their ever expanding team.  It's an enormous coup to find a man so recognisable in the local game and with such in depth knowledge of the area. This appointment marks an important step for the club in strengthening our Rugby League offer across Kirklees. His passion for the community game and understanding of the local landscape make him an excellent fit for the role. We are extremely confident that he will play a key part in building stronger connections between schools, grassroots clubs and the Huddersfield Giants, helping to grow participation and engagement across Kirklees and ultimately spread the gospel of our our great sport and our club.

Everyone connected with the club is excited to have Cameron on board and we look forward to the enthusiasm, expertise and fresh ideas he brings and he will be the focal point for every amateur club in the area in respect of the Giants. That interaction maybe assistance with funding pots, player appearances, coach development, facilities management, the list is almost endless as to the needs of clubs and Cameron will be the dedicated go to man for all their needs.”
